Improve your abstract writing and reviewing skills
ECDC Virtual Academy (EVA) is organising online activities for those interested in refining their skills in writing and reviewing abstracts.
If you plan to submit an abstract to ESCAIDE, then this is for you. To begin with, you can complete the training on ‘Essentials of writing and reviewing scientific abstracts’, which is already available on EVA. Then, you can strengthen your skills by participating in a peer feedback activity, which will run from 28 April to 12 May.
This a non-moderated and self-paced course e-learning course targeted at public health professionals in the domain of disease prevention and control who plan to submit abstracts to scientific conferences. The course uses both lectures and exercises based on field epidemiology examples such as outbreak investigations to help the learners improve their skills in writing and reviewing scientific abstracts.
By completing this course the learners will be able to:
- explain the importance of writing a good abstract
- identify the key components of an abstract
- outline the steps in writing an abstract
- outline the steps in reviewing someone else's abstract
