ECDC Virtual Academy (EVA) is organising online activities for those interested in refining their skills in writing and reviewing abstracts.

If you plan to submit an abstract to ESCAIDE, then this is for you. To begin with, you can complete the training on ‘Essentials of writing and reviewing scientific abstracts’, which is already available on EVA. Then, you can strengthen your skills by participating in a peer feedback activity, which will run from 28 April to 12 May.

Course 1: “Essentials of Writing and Reviewing Scientific Abstracts: a field epidemiology focus

This a non-moderated and self-paced course e-learning course targeted at public health professionals in the domain of disease prevention and control who plan to submit abstracts to scientific conferences. By completing this course the learners will be able to:

  • explain the importance of writing a good abstract
  • identify the key components of an abstract
  • outline the steps in writing an abstract
  • outline the steps in reviewing someone else's abstract

Course 2: “Peer Feedback on Writing and Reviewing Scientific Abstracts: a Field Epidemiology Focus – 7th Edition

The course is composed of two assignments that are to be submitted within a certain time frame, addressing the general principles of writing and reviewing scientific abstracts.
