Preliminary abstract submission guidelines for 2026

Preliminary guidelines are available to help you prepare your abstract submission for ESCAIDE 2026. Final guidelines will be published soon.

Topics

ESCAIDE 2026 welcomes abstract submissions from fields related to infectious disease and public health, including epidemiology, microbiology, virology, immunology, social sciences, science communication, the application of tools and methods to support infectious disease interventions, along with other relevant disciplines.

We encourage submissions that inform public health actions, introduce innovative concepts, and bring new insights to the field.

Format

Abstracts should contain the following sections: Background, Methods, Results and Conclusions.

Abstracts should be submitted in English.

The word limit is 300 (excluding the title, keywords and headings of sub-sections i.e. background, methods, etc.)

Submission and review process

Abstracts must be submitted through the dedicated abstract submission platform – the link for this will become available on the ESCAIDE website once submissions are open (15 April to 18 May at 23:59 CEST).

Abstracts will be reviewed by 3 reviewers, who will follow defined grading criteria. Please see the 2025 guidelines for abstract review and selection below; note that minor changes may apply to the 2026 guidelines and criteria

Results of the review and selection process will be communicated to authors by 30 June.

Accepted abstracts will be allocated into Fireside sessions (for oral presentations) and Poster tours, and published in the conference programme at a later date. Subscribe to our newsletter and keep an eye on our website to make sure you don’t miss these updates.

A further call for late breaker abstracts, reporting on acute urgent public health problems or containing novel, surprising findings that were unavailable at the time of the general call for abstracts , will take place in September. More information will be published on the ESCAIDE website soon.

Financial support

Funding opportunities are available for presenters of accepted abstracts to attend the conference in person. More information and eligibility criteria will be published on the ESCAIDE website closer to the submission date.
