About ESCAIDE

p4.JPG

The conference aims at: (a) strengthening and expanding the human network of all involved in applied infectious disease epidemiology (b) sharing scientific knowledge and experience in this field in Europe and internationally, and (c) providing a dedicated platform for EPIET/FETP (field epidemiology training programme) fellows to present their work.

The target audience for the conference includes epidemiologists, microbiologists, clinicians and public, veterinary and environmental health experts with a professional and scientific interest in applied infectious disease epidemiology. In addition, the conference aims at bringing together several groups of people involved in applied infectious disease epidemiology: at least two members of the National institute of Public Health from each European Union Member State and the non-EU members of the European Economic Areas (EEA) Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, members of the Dedicated Surveillance Networks (DSNs) and EPIET-FETP fellows and alumni.

The second ESCAIDE took place in 2008 in Berlin (Germany).  ESCAIDE will rotate between Stockholm, the city where ECDC is seated and a capital city of an EU Member State or EEA on alternate years.

 CME Accreditation

The European Scientific Conference on Applied Infectious Disease Epidemiology was in 2008 accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME).  ESCAIDE was then designated for a maximum of, or up to 18 European CME credits (ECMEC’s).

Application for CME Accreditation for ESCAIDE 2009 is now underway.  Further updates regarding this will be posted in due course.
